CBD GUIDE

What is CBD oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is one of around 113 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. THC is another cannabinoid you may have already heard of. Unlike THC, CBD does not get you high, so it is completely legal to enjoy as a supplement in the UK and many countries around the world. Cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system. While investigating the negative impact of THC, scientists stumbled upon this previously unknown system. The endocannabinoid system is made up of neurotransmitters and receptors.

This system is present throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems. This system allows cells of different kinds to communicate and is thought to be involved in maintaining homeostasis (balance) in the body.

Research is still in the preliminary phases, but early signs and anecdotal evidence suggests that CBD could be used for wellbeing, pain relief, improved sleep, appetite regulation and stress reduction. And this is only scratching the surface.

Where does Canamis CBD oil come from?

We source our CBD oil from Colorado, USA. As one of the first states to legalise CBD oil for human consumption, Colorado is ahead of the rest of the world in cultivation and extraction.

Our CBD oil is grown to organic standards, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemicals. The extraction process is also free from chemicals, as many solvent extraction processes can leave behind dangerous residue.

We only use CBD oil which has been extracted from the plant fibres using a process called supercritical CO2 extraction. This is a very precise extraction process that allows us to select which plant compounds to keep and which to remove. Once the process is finished, no residue is left behind, because the CO2 simply reverts to a gas state. This results in a refined and superior CBD extract with a very precise cannabinoid profile.

How do I use CBD Oil?

How do I use CBD oil?

There are many different ways to enjoy Canamis CBD oil. You can take oral oil drops under your tongue. You could enjoy it topically as a cream or lotion. You can try it as an edible, in either chewing gum or gummy sweet form. Or you could take it as a gel capsule similar to your daily vitamins. Oral drops and chewing gum offer the most efficient way to absorb CBD.

This method works faster than products such as edibles as it bypasses the digestive system. The area under your tongue is also packed with capillaries, allowing for direct absorption. This area also contains the sublingual gland which allows you to absorb the product into the bloodstream faster than with other ingestion methods.

CBD is not only beneficial as an oral supplement. It also provides benefits to your skin. Our skincare collection can be applied directly to the skin to help tackle issues like acne or eczema. This works thanks to the skin’s natural endocannabinoid receptors. Since CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, this can help to soothe inflamed skin.

How much CBD should I take?

When taken in large quantities, CBD may have some side effects, but it is a non-toxic substance, which means it isn’t possible to “overdose”. When it comes to finding the right dosage for your needs, we recommend using your body weight as a guide.

A smaller person will require less CBD to feel the same effects as a larger person. Your tolerance and susceptibility will also need to be taken into consideration. This is why we recommend starting with a low dose and increasing until you reach the desired effect.

A helpful guide for dosage is to take 1-6mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight; then judge its desired effects for your personal goals, such as pain relief or anxiety-reduction to decide whether you require a higher or lower dose each day.

For those using CBD as an aid for general physical and mental wellbeing, adjust your dosage until you feel an improvement.

What does CBD Do?

What does CBD do?

Our customers turn to Canamis CBD oil for many different reasons. Anecdotally, you may have heard that it can help you to improve your sleep, reduce pain, ease anxiety, manage your appetite and even improve your skin. Studies are still ongoing into the wide-reaching benefits of CBD oil, but these are some of the most promising studies published in recent years.

Pain relief and CBD

One study in rats found that CBD was effective in reducing pain from a surgical incision. Another study found that CBD was effective in reducing sciatic nerve pain and inflammation. CBD combined with THC in an oral spray has also been used to reduce pain in multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis sufferers. Anxiety, depression and stress A Brazilian study found that CBD helped participants with social anxiety disorder feel more relaxed during a public speaking test. CBD has also been found to have antidepressant-like effects in animal studies.

Acne and CBD

A test-tube study found that CBD was able to reduce sebum production, reduce inflammation, and prevent the activation of inflammatory cytokines. Acne is a very complex condition, but these factors all play a role in its progression.

Blood pressure and CBD

CBD has been found to be effective in reducing blood pressure in those with high blood pressure. It has also been found effective in helping to control blood pressure during stress tests which would normally lead to an increase in blood pressure.

Controlling your blood pressure can help to protect you from heart disease, stroke and metabolic syndrome. Sleep and CBD A 2019 study revealed that patients who reported anxiety and poor sleep saw an improvement in their anxiety levels and sleep patterns within the first month of using a CBD supplement.

CBD’s popularity has boomed in recent years, and the Canamis team’s background in pain reduction and proven medical usage means that its all-natural formulations are carefully harnessed in ways that work for everyone; whatever your age or health goals. Is CBD Oil Legal?
Absolutely! THC is a controlled substance, so CBD oil must contain less than 0.2% THC for it to be legal in the UK. This is why purchasing your CBD oil from a reputable source with lab certification is so important.

Canamis CBD oil is a broad spectrum oil, which means it contains other beneficial cannabinoids, but 0.0% THC. A full-spectrum CBD oil can contain up to 0.2% THC and still be legal. A CBD isolate only contains CBD, with all other cannabinoids removed.

How Does CBD Oil Make You Feel?
This varies from person to person. Some people report feeling more relaxed and at ease. Others report having higher energy levels during the day because they are sleeping more peacefully at night.

You might not notice any changes to your mood or outlook, but this doesn’t mean that CBD oil isn’t helping behind the scenes. Listen to your body and take the time to check-in.

Will CBD Get Me High?
No, CBD oil will not get you high. The confusion about CBD getting users high is all linked to CBD’s relationship to THC. THC is the psychoactive element responsible for the “high” feeling in marijuana. THC blocks the endocannabinoid receptors, which stops important messages from getting through. This is why marijuana users may get the “munchies”, because vital messages about their appetite aren’t getting through, and they assume they are hungry.

CBD, on the other hand, helps to facilitate these receptors. It also helps to reduce the rate at which the endocannabinoids created by your body are broken down by enzymes. This boost of endocannabinoids might help to maintain homeostasis in the body, but it won’t get you high. You may see CBD referred to as “non-psychoactive” and “non-psychotropic”. These words mean that they will not alter your brain or your perception of the world around you.

What Are The Side Effects Of CBD?
The only side effects reported from CBD usage are very uncommon and minor. You might experience a dry mouth, which is common when CBD is consumed alongside other cannabinoid compounds such as THC. Since Canamis products are free from THC, this is unlikely with our products. High doses of CBD oil can cause a slight drop in blood pressure, which could lead to feeling light-headed. However, lower blood pressure could benefit people at risk of heart disease and diabetes. For those with normal blood pressure, this side effect is short-lasting. High quantities of CBD can sometimes cause drowsiness. If you feel that CBD makes you drowsy, do not drive or operate heavy machinery. Drinking a coffee will typically reverse these effects. If drowsiness is a problem for you, simply reduce your dosage to avoid this in future.

How Often Should I Take CBD Oil?
This all depends on your personal preference. Some people will take CBD daily like they would a daily supplement. Others prefer to take it when they feel they need a lift, pain relief, or help to fall asleep. When you start taking CBD oil, listen to your body and observe how it makes you feel. This will allow you to create the right dosing schedule for your needs and preferences.

How Should I Store My CBD Oil?
CBD should be stored in a cool and dark place to protect it from sunlight. Keeping your CBD oil in a warm place can encourage bacteria to thrive in the bottle. You don’t need to keep CBD oil in the fridge. Keeping your CBD oil in the fridge may make it more difficult to dispense using the pipette and your CBD oil may become cloudy. Is CBD Oil Addictive?
No, CBD is not addictive. By choosing a broad spectrum CBD oil, you also remove the risk that you could become addicted to the small amounts of THC. CBD does not produce a “high”, so it is not considered to be habit-forming.
